Baby Signs® Program
Parent Workshop

The goal of the Baby Signs® Parent Workshop is to introduce parents and caregivers to the history of the Baby Signs® movement, the research behind the program, and the many benefits to families who incorporate signing into daily life. You will also learn the most effective ways to teach your child some useful signs and put together a personalized Baby Signs® plan to get started signing with your own baby.

90-minute Baby Signs® Parent Workshop

Baby Signs® Program
Sign, Say & Play® Class

Sign, Say & Play® classes are a fun and entertaining way for parents, caregivers, and babies ages birth through two to learn signs together. In this 6-week series of “play classes” you and your baby will learn signs through theme-based songs, games, books, and activities. Each class also includes a parent/caregiver education component, with important concepts drawn from Dr. Linda Acredolo and Dr. Susan Goodwyn’s book, Baby Minds, to help you learn more about your child’s cognitive, literacy and language development.

6-week Sign, Say & Play® Class
One 60-minute class per week
$150 per adult-child pair

For over 25 years, the Baby Signs® Program has brought the joy and benefits of signing with babies to families around the world.  And now, those same benefits will be available to the children in your center, enabling them to quickly and easily let staff know what they need, what they see, and even how they feel, long before they can talk.

Tiny Talkers

Tiny Talkers is a series of playgroups for children ages birth through three and their parent or caregiver. Each class includes an education component with important information about how to facilitate speech and language development during daily interactions at home in addition to time for the children to enjoy supervised play.

4-week Tiny Talkers Class
One 60-minute class per week
$100 per adult-child pair

Leap Into Literacy

Leap Into Literacy is a series of movement classes for children ages two through five and their parent or caregiver. Each class focuses on a particular book, combining story time with movement activities to promote early literacy and physical fitness for preschool children.

8-week Leap Into Literacy Class

Ready Readers

Ready Readers is a series of classes for children ages three through six. Each class uses a particular book to introduce emergent literacy skills critical for reading success. Children will expand their knowledge of narrative, vocabulary, phonological awareness, and print through theme-based art, music, games, and other activities.

4-week Ready Readers Class
One 90-minute class per week
$150 per child

Caring Kids

Caring Kids is a social-emotional skills group for preschool and
early elementary children ages four through eight. Throughout this series of classes children will learn learn about mindfulness, feelings and emotions, problem solving, and gratitude. They will be given opportunities to practice what they have learned through structured activities and play. This group is co-facilitated by both a nationally-certified, state-licensed Independent Social Worker and Speech-Language Pathologist.

Caring Kids

Caring Kids is a sensory and social-emotional awareness group for kids ages 4-8 based on the Kindness Curriculum from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and brought to you by the founders of KidSpeak, LLC and Metta Mind, LLC. Through books, interactive games, and exploratory activities children will be introduced to mindfulness, identifying emotions, expressing gratitude, and calming and problem solving skills.

Tuesdays and Thursdays

June 22nd - July 15th, 2021

The primary location of this group will be KidSpeak, LLC at 23 Eric Nord Way, Suite 1 in Oberlin, Ohio. This group will be facilitated by Laura Slocum, M.A., CCC-SLP and Laura Geller, LISW. Laura Slocum is owner/clinician at KidSpeak, LLC. She is nationally certified, state licensed in Speech-Language Pathology and has over 20 years experience working with kids of all ages. Laura Geller is the founder and therapist at Metta Mind Therapy, LLC specializing in mindfulness and body-centered therapy for kids, families, and adults.

Ready Readers is a language and literacy group for kids ages 3-6 based on the Read It Again Pre-K! Curriculum from The Ohio State University and brought to you by the founder of KidSpeak, LLC. Through music, stories, interactive games and activities children will receive intentional instruction in foundational skills critical for reading success.
